Repository Services

By registering your ownership of goods or works with us, we can provide you with an independent verification of your proof of ownership without the assets leaving your possession.

Your registration can be used to protect you against fraud or disputes as to ownership. Alternatively, your registration can be used simply as an independent third-party repository for your valuable assets.

Your registration will be secure in our virtual vault which can be accessed by you or anyone authorised by you using a unique key provided to you upon registration.

FAQS

Please contact us if you cannot find an answer to your question.

Typically, where there is no other public or state register for your valuable asset. The type of assets can be anything from antiques or paintings to collectable items such as football boots.

In the UK, it is important to note there is no public register of vehicle ownership -only ‘registered keepers’ are recorded by the DVLA. Registration with LAC is ideal if you have a classic car collection, or a vehicle is owned by you but normally driven by someone else.

Contact us if you are unsure about whether your item is registrable with us.

Examples of when you should use the repository:

  • When your ownership arises from situations where goods or works do not move; E.g. A sale of plant or equipment fixed within premises, household contents & furniture which may have been gifted, intellectual property or software and computer codes, livestock within premises.
  • When your ownership arises from situations where goods or works do move; E.g. Paintings, collections, precious metals and antiques and vehicles.
  • Documents & records; E.g. A computer source code, a personal Will or a Contract.

You will need proof for ownership if you intend to re-sell, make an insurance claim or prove ownership if asked to do so where someone else is in debt.

There is a fixed cost of £100.00 plus VAT per application.

This fee may vary where we are required to make detailed inquiries about proof of ownership before accepting registration or where we are asked to store intangibles such as software source codes.

You will receive as special certificate of registration endorsed with a unique LAC reference number. Our certificate of registration will enhance the value of your assets when you decide to sell or transfer your assets.

Buyers can rely on the our certificate of registration knowing they are purchasing from a bona fide seller with legal title. When you sell, the buyer can apply to re-register after appropriate checks have been made by us about the transaction.
